Born in 1970, Maya Kucherskaya is a graduate of the Moscow State University (1992, philology), and the UCLA (1995). Author of more than 100 literary critiques and articles in literary magazines.
In addition to this she works as a book reviewer at the newspaper “Vedomosti” (cooperated with Financial Times).
She made her debut as a fiction writer in 2004 with “Sovremenniy paterik. Chtenie dlya vpavshih v uninie” (“A Modern Patericon. A Book For Those Who Have Fallen Into Despondence”), a collection of short stories about modern Christian orthodox church in Russia (more than 11.000 copies sold in Russia).
In 2005 she published a non-fiction book “Konstantin Pavlovich” (biography of Grand Duke Constantine Romanov, brother of Russian Emperor Alexander II).
Her fiction title “Rain God” published in 2007 has sold more than 10.000 copies.
